2025 CEV Cup, Trentino Itas flies to the quarterfinals

January ends with Trentino Itas men’s team qualifying for the quarterfinals of the 2025 CEV Cup. The European Champions secured their place among the top eight in the second continental tournament tonight at ilT quotidiano Arena with a 3-0 win over Romania's CSM Corona Brasov in the second leg of the Play Offs. Having previously won 3-1 away fifteen days earlier, the team coached by Fabio Soli only needed to win two sets, which they did at the beginning of the match, to advance to the next round. With the score at 2-0, Michieletto and his teammates wanted to continue their excellent performance and immediately secured the victory, showing they had turned the page since their unfortunate Italian Cup weekend in Bologna. To face the French team Chaumont in the next round (first leg away on February 12, second leg at home on February 26), Trentino Itas put in a convincing performance from the start, characterized by great attacking effectiveness (71% overall), very few errors (13 in serving, with 7 aces, and only 2 net errors), and constant attention to details, which allowed them to shake off their opponents in the first half of each set. Lavia (top scorer with 17 points, including three blocks and two aces and 71% in attack), Gabi Garcia (14 points with 86%!) and Michieletto (12 points) led their team to a 3-0 victory, which also saw two young players from the UniTrento Volley Serie B team, Fedrici and Boschini, making their debut and each scoring a point, the best way to advance to the quarterfinals.
