SuperLega, on Wednesday at ilT quotidiano Arena the 11th round preview

The match between Itas Trentino and Sonepar Padova will take place on Wednesday, November 27, at the ilT Quotidiano Arena, valid for the eleventh round of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2024/25 regular season. Originally scheduled for December 8, it has been moved up to allow Trentino Volley to travel to Brazil for the 2024 Club World Championship on that date. The match is set to start at 8:30 PM, with live commentary on Radio Dolomiti and paid live streaming available on the OTT platform VBTV.

Padova has assembled an excellent roster, with an interesting mix of experienced players and youth; they are well-coached and have shown the ability to play against top teams without any fear. In particular, serving is one of Sonepar's most effective fundamentals, and I believe this aspect will be key to the match; if we want to win, we must manage to contain their serve effectively, which is very impactful in at least four of the six rotations. We are still facing challenges at the center of the net, but I hope the team can present itself with the same spirit and quality of play that it showcased against Monza, minimizing the impact of the absences we currently have to deal with”.
The coach of Itas Trentino will still have to do without Kozamernik due to a cervical issue that kept him sidelined last Sunday as well. He will, however, bring the Romanian Bartha to the bench, who is gradually returning to the group. Preparation for the match will be completed with training sessions this afternoon and Wednesday morning; on this occasion, Trentino Volley will play its 1,058th official match in the history of the men's sector, the 487th at home, and will be looking for victory number 738, potentially the twelfth of the season (out of fourteen matches played).
THE OPPONENTS Despite losing four of their last five matches played in the league, including the one on Sunday in Modena (1-3), Sonepar Padova arrives in Trento fully engaged in the battle to secure one of the top eight spots at the end of the first half of the season, a position that would allow them to play in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia on December 29th. The team trained by Jacopo Cuttini (during his fifth season in the Paduan team) has ten points in the ranking, two less than Cisterna and Valsa Group itself, both at eighth place and it will try to gain more points also at ilT quotidiano Arena, knowing well how to hinder a Top Team. During the first nine match days it forced Piacenza and Perugia to the tie break, it clearly overcame Monza but also made Civitanova suffer. THE BACKGROUND The 44th official match in the history between the two clubs will be played on Wednesday. The report is definitely advantageous for the gialloblù, who won thirty-five occasions, but the Venetians have triumphed in four of the last eleven games played, including the most recent previous one played in Trento (1-3, on March 3rd, 2024). In the twenty-two official matches played in Trentino, Padua has won only three other times: on November 3rd, 2021 (2-3), on November 7th, 2004 (1-3) and on November 20th, 2019 (2-3). The first ever home match was also played against the Venetian club: on 22nd October 2000, success at tie break.
THE REFEREES The match will be refereed by Mauro Goitre (tenured referee since 2008 and international since 2016) and Rossella Piana (from Carpi - Modena), both to the fifth season in top category, and at eleventh match refereed together in their career. The most recent match of Trentino Volley directed by Goitre (who has already refereed two Trento-Padua matches during his career) is the home defeat happened on October 27th, whereas for Piana the last meeting dates back to the 2-3 on April 7th against Monza, always at ilT quotidiano Arena.
